From the Fox Valley Initiative: ALERT!! Huge Rally Set For Next Week!

If you live in Northeast Wisconsin, please see the following from the Fox Valley Initiative.

ALERT!! Huge Rally Set For Next Week!
Today, the Fox Cities Chamber as well as the Green Bay Chamber told the Fox Valley Initiative of their plans to hold a massive rally at Fox Cities Stadium in opposition to the current health care legislation next Tuesday, September 8th at 6pm.

Much like the F.V.I.’s health care forum held a few weeks ago, the event will not only focus on opposition to the reforms but also what reforms can and would have a beneficial impact on the industry without completely tearing it apart.

Last week, proponents of the legislation held a campaign style rally where the unions did their best to drum up support for their “reforms”. With more than a dozen sponsors of the event, they were still not able to get more than a few hundred their to support them. It would tell our legislators a lot if we were able to fill the stadium next Tuesday evening. There will not be a more critical show of force before they take a vote!

Showing up is important, but so is getting your friends, family, and acquaintences there as well. Please click here for a downloadable flyer that you can email to everyone on your list. Imagine the entire stadium packed with concerned citizens all speaking with one voice. Could your legislators ignore you then? What will you do to get people there?

The following is the press release sent out by the Chambers of Commerce today:

Healthcare Reform Rally Slated September 8th

The two largest business organizations in Northeast Wisconsin announced today that they will host a special meeting intended to rally public support for responsible healthcare solutions as Congress heads back from their summer recess. The Rally for Responsible Reform will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at 6 p.m. at Fox Cities Stadium under the auspices of the Fox Cities and Green Bay Chambers of Commerce.

“We are excited to give citizens and business people in Northeast Wisconsin an opportunity to come together and rally for new directions in healthcare reform,” noted Bill Welch, President & CEO of the Fox Cities Chamber. “We invite citizens who share our concerns to join us for this special event. This is their opportunity to stand-up and be counted.”

“The rally will focus on healthcare reforms that both control cost and enhance healthcare outcomes,” said Paul Jadin, President & CEO of the Green Bay Area Chamber. “We believe we can do much better than the legislation now under consideration. This event provides an opportunity to send an important message.”

The event is being billed as “R3: The Rally for Responsible Reform.” In addition to Jadin and Welch, featured speakers will include—

Dr. John Toussaint, President of the ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value in Appleton
Dan Madigan, President & CEO of Feeco International in Green Bay
Debra Michiels, Owner of Michiels Fox Banquets Catering in Appleton
Dr. Toussaint will keynote the rally. He has taken a lead role nationally in promoting transparency and helped create the Wisconsin Collaborative on Healthcare Quality. He also led an effort at ThedaCare to apply lean management techniques in healthcare. His efforts in this regard recently gained notoriety in a special Fox News segment on the Greta Van Susteren program.

Attendance at the rally is free of charge and seating is available on a first-come basis. The parking lot and gates at Fox Cities Stadium will open at 4:30 with a formal program commencing at 6:00 p.m. Organizers have arranged for the concessions at the stadium to be open, so that attendees can access food and beverages prior to and during the event.

Taken together the Green Bay and Fox Cities Chambers represent roughly 3,000 businesses in Northeast Wisconsin. Member companies employ more than 200,000 people. The Chambers have been outspoken critics of HR 3200, the massive healthcare reform bill under consideration in the U.S. House.

The two Chambers are sending information regarding the rally to other business, taxpayer and public interest groups within the region and hope they will enthusiastically embrace the rally too. Additional information regarding the rally can be accessed by visiting foxcitieschamber.com or titletown.org, the websites of the two Chambers.
