Senator Ted Kennedy, Dead at 77

Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts has died after a year long fight with brain cancer. He was 77.
From CNN:

(CNN) -- Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, the patriarch of the first family of Democratic politics, died late Tuesday at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was 77.

"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," a family statement said. "We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice."

A respectful post about the senator was made at HotAir. Redstate was immediately more critical of the late Senator. The Huffington Post praised the "legendary senator." Media Matters, unfortunately, took only an hour after the senator's death to post an entry on Twitter politicizing the event and using it to attack conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh.

Let's put our ideologies aside for the moment. There will be plenty of time to debate the legacy of Senator Ted Kennedy. The man is gone and he can hear neither your praise nor your condemnation. Those left behind however can. Give them their time to mourn and deal with their loss. Our prayers go out to the friends and family of the late senator.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." - Matthew 5:4
